I have nothing else to add, overall. I mean, one could combine Fletcher's situationalism with either of the two major historical schools of ethics. But I think we know that circumstance often drives differing decisions regardless of preformed conclusions on which 'system' of ethics one feels beholde...

I don't think he says they are impossible. It's more like he says they don't happen (the issue was deos he say "at all?" Or "enough."). I would interpret him as saying they don't happen at all. Why does the spontaneous healing of scar tissue in the lungs have to be miraculous? I think that is the question that needs to be answered before the conversation with Tyrrho can advance any further.

There are no shortages of people recovering quickly from diseases, even overnight healings. Despite being areligious, I have no difficulties believing spontaneous healings occur. I don't credit such things as "miracles" because it is part of the natural order of things to seek wholeness and well-bei...

Simply stated, Hume overstates his case. As Dinesh D'Souza pointed out in his book What's So Great About Christianity? , seeing only white swans everywhere you observe swans does not make an immutable law that only white swans exist; it is possible, even probable, that a black swan exists somewhere....
