Thanks, Meta.

As you can see, I won't be around very much, but I'll try to stop by at least occasionally.

Re: Fox News has hit a new low for me

I thought this interview was a lot better. But I have to admit, they didn't mention he was a Muslim. Thanks for that. They also didn't mention the Fox interview. The Daily Show interview was prior to the Fox interview. Though from what I had heard, he knew exactly what he was getting into. I'm sure...

Re: Hume's Misconception on Miracles

I don't think he says they are impossible. It's more like he says they don't happen (the issue was deos he say "at all?" Or "enough."). I would interpret him as saying they don't happen at all. (Remember he defines them as violations of the laws of nature.) And by saying they don't happen at all, h...

Re: Miracles (for Meta)

Even aside from the possiblity that the committee guy was lying, I would like to know how they rule out the possibility that the doctor was mistaken or misunderstood when he said the guy grew new lungs. I don't know how x-rays could distinguish between lungs that are "new" and lungs that are "healt...

Re: Miracles (for Meta)

incredulity. hard to document! come off it! one xray the day before, one xray the day after. It is so documented. what you really mean is it's hard not to rule it out on incredulity. what would happen if you didn't rule it out dogmatically? I'd be glad to look at the evidence, simply because you se...

Re: Hume's Misconception on Miracles

But Hume isn't talking about black swans. A better analogy would be swans that can fly even though they don't have wings. Not that I (nor Hume) would say that such a thing is impossible (in a philosophical sense). But I wouldn't believe it based on ordinary testimony. I disagree. Atheists will star...
