You are most likely right. And it wouldn't really be surprising given Christianity's patriarchal history.

Re: KJV or NIV?

ESV. Retains a lot of the literary quality of the KJV, and is still easy to understand like the NIV.

Re: neo-existentialism

Life is inherently meaningful. We necessarily search for a meaning for our existence. We are compelled to it. We resolve it somehow. The most spiritually healthy resolution is in God. I agree with very little of you wrote. I take difference on two main points: 1) I think meaning is self-determined,...

Re: 2011?

What does 2011 look like for you in the area of Theology? I am currently looking into creating a Vlog for YouTube, i think there is a huge interlectual rift, that a theist hasn't filled. So I will see how it goes, better start to get material together. I don't do theology by the year. I will believ...

Re: Sam Harris on Vipassana meditation

He is quite an interesting man. At first, when I read his initial two books, I was taken aback by what appeared to be outright hostility. Then, after seeing him in a few interviews and debates, I realised that he is tremendously eloquent and surprisingly concise. Because I appreciate those skills an...

Re: Realization of God and The Depth of Being

Hey Meta - I have to say, HRG's response to that Tillich quote on Carm - Poetry. Not an argument. The source of my being is a natural, biological process. "Depth" is a property which can be applied to oceans or holes, not to "being". That's so sad. You must feel like you're talking to Daleks. ahahh...

Re: why are atheits like they are?

I chalk it down to this: some atheists are petty jerks. Some are not. Since Christians are, by far, the majority in comparison to atheists, it's easier to find gaggles of well-mannered Christians. Sifting through the occasional dross of wart-mouthed atheists, however, makes it seem as if there are p...

Oh, and now you want to kiss my posterior. Well, then... I suppose there's no shame in a bit of grovelling, is there? ;) It's okay, Meta. I know I'm not around much. And I know when I am, I'm not much of a contributor because my brain is generally on overload as it is. Cheers, mate! Kane ...

Re: I am about to call it quites

I know you guys are great, you are my friends, you are smart, you care. You are also the chorus. You are the not the people I have to convince. Notice the only smart atheist left on here is Fleet. Even Quantum Troll decided to do real life and left us. not that i mean to take you for granted. Ouch....
