Re: Happy Thanksgiving
But, I don't drink Wine either! or any Alcohol! so all Canada has is ice and much colder winters than Tennessee! and Hockey! and Potein! Though you lot were sensable enough to keep the Crown, so thats good. Oh, I don't know if keeping the Crown was sensible. I mean, I'm used to what it implies, but...

Re: Happy Thanksgiving
Happy THanskgivign Canada! And God Save the Queen! On that noite, I don't drink beer. What does Canada have to offer the Englishman in Tennessee? Same thing it has to offer the Englishman in Canada: awesome beer! And if you don't drink beer, we make the world's finest ice-wine's, too. See? You can ...

Happy Thanksgiving
Despite the obvious Amerocentrism of this board ( ), I'd like to shout out a Happy Thanksgiving to us fine and admirable Canadians.
You Americans know who you are. You come across our boarder to purchase real beer. Bunch of turkeys.

Re: Reading on decline
Thats not really the point I made. My point was simply that you can't read each book in the Bible as if its just a Chapter in an overall book, thats all consistent in style and flow. The Gospel of Mark can't be read and understood if you try reading them in exactly the same way you would the Psalms...

Re: Objectivism
Now now, I never said that people aren’t driven by self interest, I just disagree that all people always are. There is a distinction. I agree with you: people are not always driven by self-interest. I see that as an evident failing, to be honest. Rather, it appears to me to be a psychological disor...

Re: Objectivism
As it should be. I find Rands Philosophy problemic myself, though I do like the Free Market and Libertarian principles she espouses. I just think the enherant seldishness argument is foolish, but thats for another time. Zarove, Anyone who enjoys the philosophy of Objectivism does not also have to b...

Re: Reading on decline
Anyone who thinks the Bible is any one thing has clearly not studied it… Saying “The Bible is Figurative” means that none of its true in an actual real world sense, which something Historians would argue against. Things like the Babylonian Captivity or life of Jesus or missionary Journeys of Paul a...

Re: Objectivism
Thanks, Kane. It helps to be clear about what we're discussing, since Objectivism is such a large subject. I think I'd agree with what Brandon says in your quote, at least my interpretation of those words. Like I mentioned, what the word "force" means is key. One can come to wildly varying conclusi...

Re: Literal vs. literary
no atheists don't believe its figurative they believe it's bull shit. Saying it's figurative implies there's a value to it. Every time i try to argue that with atheists most of them erupt. I agree with FleetMouse that atheists consider the bible to be figurative. By that, I mean that most atheists ...
