If evil is the loss of good, is that a consequentialst idea, miles? Maybe. If we are trying to make it more than descriptive. Perhaps a better term for evil is not the absence of good but its negation. That would make sense from any form of realist ethics. It isn't just non-good it is the loss of the good.

I think we already discussed how different traits are virtues depending on the society. I think there is one trait that is a virtue no matter the society. Phrenosis, or practical wisdom. The ability to reason and be pragmatic can be useful and admirable in any society.

Virtue ethics often gets fused into either deontic or consequentialist. Some people can be deontic in theory but practice virtue ethics are a means to fulfill their oughts. Same with consequentialists. I consider it a pragmatists form of ethics. The main problem with it is its circular reasoning as...
