Re: the atheist ideology
It is an iron law of religious debate that the theist will, at some point, reject or denigrate science - when it goes against him. The flipside is that he will use it when it supports his ideology. I have no doubt that under a Christian theocracy there would be a state sanctioned Christian science ...

Re: Metarock -- another kind of football
I'm a fan of soccer at the world class level, it's mesmerizing, the rhythms of that ball going round and round, they way they move it up and down the pitch, itz like a dance. Beneath that level tho, it's not so interesting. Then again that's also true for me even with hockey (the sport all us Canad...

Re: Rejection of Chrsitainty and Self Esteem
Just on a very basic level, "self-esteem" means respect for or a favourable opinion of oneself . In my estimation, it is really rather difficult for a Christian to have self-esteem because part of the Christian message most predominantly taught is that to be a Christian one must deny oneself (cf. Lu...

Re: Atheists Hide in the Gap
There's always a gap where one must make a leap of faith. You can reduce the gap or it can grow wide, but there is always a gap. Even in what atheists take to be rock solid proved scientific facts there is a gap. If you look in the right place, usually do some epistemology, every source of knowledg...

Re: Palin only trails Obama by 8 pts in hypothetical 2012 poll
Hey! Why not elect Palin in 2012? Then you could have two progressive, landbreaking presidencies in 8 years: an African-American, and then a woman as president. I think that'd be awesome! And who knows? Maybe Palin's winning smile, and cougar-like presence will have the other leaders of the world fa...

Re: hey how about Halloween?
I don't allow my kids out for Halloween for different reasons (and I'm not even religious; I'm an atheist): they're not all at an age where they can participate, I don't trust masses of strangers (more on this in a moment), and I don't buy into the something-for-nothing mentality even when sweetly e...
