Re: Basis of Theology - Biblical? Philosophical? Or. . ?
I think that ultimately, our theology has to be based on what our deepest gut instinct tells us is true and beautiful. That goes beyond either "bible-based" theology or "philosophy-based" theology. And it's the crux of what Metacrock has been talking about when he says we "realize" God, and that ap...

Re: I guess we were in the twilight zone
No, Zarove and Meta were in a debate (sparked by Kristen, I think) on whether "El-Shaddai" means something like "Many-Breasted One" in Hebrew. So Zarove was just responding to Metacrock's earlier comment about the women's issues board.MonolithTMA wrote:Left field?

Re: This is the real issue: Egalitarian v. Complementarian
Oh, I forgot to answer this question of Gwarlroge: Are you referring to Amy Carmichael, for example? Yes, Amy Carmichael is one example, but the story I told actually happened to Isabella Thoburn. As for why it happened, it was apparently because her missionary board, like most churchmen of the tim...

Re: This is the real issue: Egalitarian v. Complementarian
However, if you follow the Logical extension that I presented, a woman as Ministry basically removes the manhood of Jesus, and renders the marriage of the Church to Jesus as reflected in the Ministers position as a Lesbian relationship. I guess that make your relationship to Jesus homosexual since ...

Re: This is the real issue: Egalitarian v. Complementarian
BTW, before I post, I may have held a biblically indefensible position before. I sort of grew up thinking that men have authority over women without question (although I never really liked this doctrine). As it turns out, complementarianism may imply that fathers have authority over their daughters ...

Re: This is the real issue: Egalitarian v. Complementarian
So it's a "sin" for women to do God's work, is it? Well, no. It depends on what you mean by God's work. Zarove, you're not a woman, so how do you know what you'd do if you were a woman who felt a clear call of God to preach, but the men said "no"? You might do what women did throughout the 19th and...
