that was great. I put that on my blog once for something. It was in the election when Romney said he would pull the plug on Big Bird. That is so symptomatic of why they lost. They can't listen they want to impress the world with their though guy stuff, "I'm willing to kill big bird." you don't tell America "hey vote for me, I'll kill big bird for you."

Rogers is said to have saved PBS that day.

What a great video. What a sweet and wonderful human being Fred Rogers was. Everyone should watch it once in a while - we'd all be better for it. It's like The Grinch in real life - you can watch that man's heart growing three sizes that day.

yea he was great. I actually used to watch him sometimes when I got home from class at seminary just because I didn't get to see him when I was little.

There was another Mr. Rogers, Ralph Rogers. He was big in local business (Texas Industries which owned Texas Instruments, the defense contractor that invented hand held calculators).Ralph was instrumental in getting Dallas a PBS station in 1960 and by the time of those hearings in the 70s he was on the national board of PBS and a trustee for Sesame street. He testified at the hearings too and he is also credited with helping save PBS.
