North Korea 'under martial law'

North Korea has been placed under martial law and Kim Jong-un has told his front-line troops to "be ready for a war," according to South Korean media reports.
This sounds baaaad... Miles, what's the mood in China about this? Just more posturing from Pyongyang or is it getting real?
One of the hallmarks of freedom is that when you recognize someone is being intellectually dishonest or arguing with you in bad faith, you have the option to walk away without being punished, imprisoned or tortured.

If they are being serious I'm going to feel particularly sorry for them when the South Koreans wipes the floor with them. However, maybe I will postpone my trip to South Korea just in case. I'm currently betting on just playing the crazy card. Mao used to do stuff like this all the time saying (paraphrase) "I would look forward to a nuclear war, even if 400 million of us die we will have another 400 million to claim the world" or something to that effect.

China wouldn't tolerate such actions. If North Korea makes the first aggressive action, no way in hell would they support them. The Chinese views the North Korean kind of like that cousin that nobody likes. Their an embarrassment to the family and you would rather not claim them, but they are still family. That and if NK ever collapsed the humanitarian crisis would spill into Manchuria which would cause all sorts of destabilization.

Phew. Well I doubt SK would make the first move. So that's a relief.

Disappointing but not unexpected to see more of the same old from Junior.

Yeah, I was kind of confused by that. What would be the difference. I guess the people are controlled more directly by the military rather than the civilian sector, except they're more a military with a state than a state with a military (kind of like early prussia)

New news, China is about this close to telling NK to screw themselves, at least the people in the street, the government obviously has to be more pragmatic.

Oh lawdy, now they're threatening Japan. I hope China reins them in. I think that's the only force that could manage it diplomatically.

The crazy little fucks.

Here's this gem from them.

now they threaten nuclear war. Will China curb them for us? Will they sit back while we kick their asses?
