I'm sold. This is either the best PR job ever or this guy's the real deal, even with whatever baggage he may bring with him.

One of the hallmarks of freedom is that when you recognize someone is being intellectually dishonest or arguing with you in bad faith, you have the option to walk away without being punished, imprisoned or tortured.

He was associated with liberation theology. He knew Gustavo Gutierrez.
all I did was pass Gutierrez on the street, didn't say word, didn't know who he was. I not only sensed greatness so strong I thought to my self "wow this guy is a great man" (it was on Campus so I did figure he was a prof) but specifically images of Latin America filled my head and I sensed death squads and protest and people enduring torture. All of that stuff he's been through. they I found out "that guy you walked by si the UMC's great liberation theologian."
so that environment weeds out the fakes form the real deal real fast.

lol. I think the only things left on the check list are female priesthood, married priesthood, and the pedophilia cases.

Sex-crime scandals. Then financial-management scandals. Hints in the media of incredible corruption within the Vatican bureaucracy about to be exposed. Then Benedict resigns. Then they put this new much nicer guy in power who immediately takes the whole Church on an abrupt about-face!
What gives?
Do I buy it? Not completely. I still smell something.....
OTOH, Maybe Jesus really IS about to return! That would be great!

The “One” is the space of the “world” of the tick, but also the “pinch” of the lobster, or that rendezvous in person to confirm online pictures (with a new lover or an old God). This is the machinery operative...as “onto-theology."

You know what, even if it is a face-saving ploy, it's budging the window in terms of what kind of economic and social rhetoric is acceptable, and the world needs that more desperately than it needs Vatican scandals dragged into the open.
OK, I just defended the Vatican. I'm going to go have a quiet lie down for a few minutes.
