Exactly what it says on the tin.
I guess I'll start: Underrated: Alfred North Whitehead, process philosophy deserves more love.
Overrated:Hegel, half the time I think he is BSing.

Re: Most underrated/overrated thinkers
I don't see myself being able understand all these philosophers but I find Zizek interesting and there is a very expensive book by a guy named Cameron Freeman, Post-Metaphysics and the Paradoxical Teachings of Jesus: the Structure of the Real. In his articles he refernced Zizek a lot.

I don't get this nonesense above but I like it. It does remind me of how Jesus says God leaves the flock behind to find the lost sheep.

Re: Most underrated/overrated thinkers
You know what, I'm going to take that back because when I read this thread I was thinking of overrated philosophers - as a thinker or intellectual or stand up comic gadfly Zizek is first rate - provocative and stimulating and insightful. I think he's "of his time" though and I don't know if he'll be much remembered in a few decades.

Re: Most underrated/overrated thinkers
Scientists, theologians, political analysts ect are also fair game.
So if I may, for Theologians I would throw in John Calvin because predestination is probably one of the worst things to happen to protestantism.
